Jairus
Miller has been producing
music ever since he was six years old. After (involuntarily)
taking piano lessons throughout his childhood, he picked
up a guitar at age 13 and began to make noise of a different
sort. The desire to expand his spectrum of musical expression
eventually materialized in the recording of sounds on
4-track cassette tapes, and this turn led to the acquisition
and use of music software on a desktop computer.
Growing up on an island off the coast of Maine in the
United States, Jairus was exposed to a multiplicity
of natural and synthetic waveforms, a discourse which
has profoundly shaped the direction and nuances of his
electronic music.
In 1998, Jairus began releasing music online under
the alias "Isotope 99", and later under the guise of "5i".
Jairus's music has been featured in production music
libraries, television programs, and internet radio
broadcasts. Jairus has also released music on the
digital label Infamous Light Recordings, which has
recieved support from many international DJs. Looking
to the future, Jairus has begun taking his music
to the next level, striving to transcend geographical
and genre boundaries and forge a connection with
the global electronic music community.
